CLASSIC OIRA SERIZZO ANTIGORIO

|
|
Light grey, medium and coarse grained ortogneiss with an orbicular aspect.
The schistose texture is highlighted by layers of "biotite" dark mica, which produce persistent, but unevenly distributed laminations.
The macroscopic aspect is characterised by the uniform grey colour, the presence of medium-coarse feldspar grains and discontinued whitish stains.
The above-mentioned petrographic properties result into a typically porphyritic texture where K-feldspar fenoblasts absorbed into a rigorously iso-oriented quartz-feldspar-micaceous background mass produce a peculiar porphyro-blastic aspect that is typical of the Oira Antigorio.
The pronounced schistosity of large feldspar fenoblasts floating on a light grey background, produced by fine mineral aggregations, give an unmistakable aspect to this Serizzo Antigorio variety, which is more specifically improved by sharper surface finishes (flaming, bushammering and hydro sculpture/waterjet), which also enhance the contrast of the porphyritic texture.
